Creative Voices for Change
In Fall 2024, I participated in the Global Citizen Festival, where art and voting came together to inspire change. As part of the Young Artists Collective, I worked with graphic design students from around the world, under the guidance of Pentagram's Eddie Opara, to create posters highlighting the importance of voting in democratic societies. My design, like the others, aims to show how art can drive civic engagement and empower voters to shape a better future.
Meaning Behind the Design
For the 2024 Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, NYC, I designed a poster that emphasizes the critical need for climate reform. The image is a photo collage of Earth, with green plastic waste representing land and blue plastic waste forming the ocean. Made up of tiny images of everyday plastic debris like bottles, caps, bags, and lighters, this visual symbolizes the overwhelming plastic pollution affecting our planet. The tagline, "One Earth, One Vote. Make it count," calls for action, urging people to use their vote to advocate for climate reform and other important causes like LGBTQ+ rights, racial equity, and reproductive justice. As a young person, I believe our collective votes can shape a sustainable and just future for all.

This past September, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Global Citizen Festival, where art and the power of voting came together. As part of the 2024 Summer Session of the Young Artists Collective, I worked alongside fellow graphic design students from the US, South Africa, Brazil, and Poland to explore the significance of voting in democratic societies. Under the mentorship of Eddie Opara from Pentagram, we each created posters that showcase how art can inspire civic engagement and societal change. Through my design, I aimed to encourage voters around the world to make their voices heard and actively shape the future.
